This month we celebrate our 1 year anniversary and what way to celebrate this illustrious event but to release some of our newest goodies. Unlike our previous releases this has set a new bench mark and raised the level of standard for us. We’ve put in extra thought with our choice of designs and our new built alliances.

The weather at the moment has started to show its true colours with forceful winds and body numbing weather. We’ve timed our release to coincide with this and to assist in combating the season we’ve brought out the ‘Strike through’ zip up hoodie and the ‘Here to stay’ longsleeve tee for extra insulation.

Alongside these garments we are extremely proud to present our very first collaboration with the veterans in the hat game, New Era Caps. With their swift, stylish, and sturdy architecture for headwear they’ve laid out a beautiful canvas allowing us to combine the SVTH markings and concepts which has developed into the product you see before you.

The significance of the designs laid onto these garments hold some sentimental worth as it pays tribute to the extended SVTH family who of which without their help would not have built what we have now.

One year has passed since SVTH was made known to the world. Whether you’ve just jumped on board or have been with us from the start, our appreciation and gratitude on your support is indescribable. “SVTH is the vanguard of nonconformity, We encourage the individualistic and the unconventional.” This is you, this is us, this is SVTH and we’re HERE TO STAY!

I’m sure you’ve all noticed the slider update on page one of our website containing in big bold letters the word ‘DROPPED’. Pretty misleading isn’t it? I know a lot of your hearts stopped thinking that the new releases were now out and you rushed to our online store hoping that your size has not been sold out. C’mon now you’ve got to give us a little more credit than that. We always build up towards the drop date and give you guys a heads up on when to expect them.

To clarify things though what has been “dropped” are our prices for the old stock. You know what that means right? It means the new items are about to “Drop” also. Trust us when we say we’ve a BIG surprise for you all. Our existing customers are going to be the first in line to see what’s coming out so if you’ve purchased any SVTH items in the past make sure to check your emails because you have first dibs.

By now you would’ve heard about the terrible passing of Jonas Bevacqua, co-founder and Creative Director of clothing label ‘Lifted Research Group’ aka LRG, who was found motionless at his place of residence in Laguna Beach on the 31st of May 2011. The world of fashion has suffered many losses over the years but I don’t think any has resonated more intense to us than this one.

Jonas along his business partners, Robert Wright and Charlie Moothart, established this label back in ’99 and everyone out there who has noticed this label has seen it evolve and expand from just being a Hip Hop categorized clothing brand.

He was a great inspiration to many designers and a pioneer in the world of fashion. With a big void in the LRG company we are sure that this would only encourage them to strive stronger in honor of the late Co-founder.

“.. at the end of the day it’s a business but this is truly a labor of love – i feel like i’ve never worked a day in my life” - Jonas Bevacqua

The other week our officials attended the CARBON festival in Melbourne to learn from some of the heavy hitters in the game of Street fashion. An event that went for the whole weekend, our reps were able to take part in only one of those days due to obligations related to the release of ‘THE HIT LIST’ tee that was due to drop the following Monday.

The one day that we were able to take hold of though was very well worth it! Anyone who is anyone that’s trying to get into the fashion game would’ve benefited with the knowledge that was being shared that weekend. With the crew being almost two years deep it was great to know that those speakers had gone through the same trial and error processes that we had thought was taking us down a slow path. It was also reassuring to know that the endless research we’ve tried to obtain is similar to the ideology of each person on the panel. It didn’t matter who you were though, you had to really be an empty cup or you’d walk away with nothing!

The biggest highlight for us was meeting one of our hero’s Bobby Kim aka Bobby Hundreds from the label ‘The Hundreds’. Some of the fam have been following this line for sometime and it was so overwhelming meeting the person who we hold so high up in the game, but considers himself as your everyday kid, and talking to him like it wasn’t a big deal. Our reps were nervous as hell to approach this boy but they grabbed their nuts and took advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity.

All in all we walked away with knowledge and an experience that you couldn’t pay for (even though we still had to pay for our tickets but you know what we mean). Already anticipating the next CARBON festival we hope for it to be just as big of a success.

The view we hope to see when we reach the top!

Can’t learn anything on an empty stomach. We found that out the hard way back in High School.

First speaker to kick things off was the man. Bobby Hundreds of ‘The Hundreds’.

“Stay who you are even through trends”

Ding! Ding! Ding! In the red corner ready to swing it’s right and left combination, with 7 wins all by TKO’s , bearing a white “&” style design on an all red fabric canvas we have ‘THE HIT LIST’ Tee!!!!!!

As most of you may know this weekend May 7th 2011 (Sunday the 8th for us Aussies) we have Mr Pacquiao facing off with Sugar Shane Mosley. Another main event fight that will once again have Filipinos and boxing fans all over the world on the edge of their seat. The Pacquiao boxing matches have been one of our most cherished team building sessions since we stepped into the fashion industry back in June 2008 hence choosing the six boxers for this drop.

Being big Pacman fans we were bound to do something like this to support the future hall of fame athlete. Don’t think that we never recognize the talents of all his opponents as each match is nerve racking and get our hearts racing like we’re the ones in the ring.

Fingers crossed that this will lead to the ultimate anticipated match up between Pacquiao and Mayweather so that both boxers can finally retire phasing out the question of “what if”.

THE HIT LIST tee drops tonight so make sure to hang around and not KO early to bed!

LETS GET READY TO RUUUUUUUUUUUMBLE!!!!!!!!

At the moment some of us here at HQ are side tracked with the NBA playoffs but that still does not over shadow another upcoming major sporting event set for May 7 2011 (May 8th for us Aussies). This maybe more for our Filipino friends but to the right people looking confused it’s the Manny Pacquiao fight against Sugar Shane Mosley. Mosley is a knockout veteran in the world of boxing so Mister Pacquiao, although in his prime, will still need to have his guards up!

With a number of our SVTH fam bam bleeding Filipino blood you might have an inkling of whos corner we might be behind. When we opened up shop back in 2008 during our 7th Venture days the Pacquiao fights played a favourite team building session for the crew. The Mosley match being fight number six since we formed the label, we hope that this opens up the door for the highly anticipated fight against Floyd Mayweather jr making it fight number seven. Only time will tell.

Last month gave us a bit of a work out as we did our usual run around with our contacts prepping for the winter line, celebrity meets, and our daily obligations that we would rather not do. But that’s the way the cookie crumbles and if you let those crumbs fall from under you someone else will pick it up and put together that dough!

Anywho, like we had stated March was madness!! In a few posts back we had Estevan’s visit to Sydney. Prior to him there were the fellas from Far East Movement as they were in town opening for Rhianna’s Loud tour concert, along with Calvin Harris, at Sydney’s Acer Arena. During their stay here F.M. organized a secret meet and greet where the info was to be announced on their website at any given time. Yes they had people constantly checking in on their webbie just in case it was happening at that very moment but of course they weren’t that mean and announced the deets a couple of days before it was to take place. FADEZ was was the chosen spot and to assist our fam out we had our officials present on the day to lend a helping hand.

The line was down a few shop fronts and it attracted fans from all over Syd. The boys rolled up with their trademark stunnas hiding their eyes. They posed for photos, gave a few John Hancocks and also put on a live performance for the fanatics that made the trip down to Newtown.

The whole day was a complete success and people headed home with photos to show and stories to tell. In only six months of their opening in Sydney, FADEZ have had a few well known names walk through their door and as we stated before on our post during Lloyd Bank’s visit, this is only the beginning.

Our boy Jeezy, a FADEZ Sydney Barber, posing with the boys

Now how many of you can say you’ve met one of your heroes or one of the people you look up to? We are proud to say that the other week we had the priveledge to make an acquaintance with one of ours. Estevan Oriol had a small Sydney Tour organised by the crew at Freestyle Rides Magazine. Only in town for less than a week it seemed that his schedule left little time to site see.

With some of our fam catching him at the Atrium meet and greet and then again at the Tattoo and Body Art expo all SVTH reps had the same positive reaction. The prints he had on showcase were truly amazing. This man has sheer talent and an eye for film and photography that no one can imitate.

Sporting a wrist brace due to an elbow injury we asked him if it affected his game which of course it did not as he stuck to his guns (or should we say “Cannon’s”) snapping away and signing his prints to inspired fans.

At the Tattoo Expo one of our members had hung their Cannon AE-1′s around their necks which of course sparked conversation with the man. Intrigued as he was with the camera he humorously tried to swap it for his own which would probably have had our boy smiling for days if he’d agreed.

Estevan had fit right in at the Tattoo Expo as you can say that this is his niche market. A lot of people have to understand though that what he takes photos of is barely the surface. The way he takes his photos is where the real raw and cutting edge of it all lies. Being one of the very few who still use film cameras, despite the hostile take over of the digital world, this is how he is able to distinguish himself above the rest and show his potential as a photographer.

Over the weekend we took a field trip to Sydney Olympic Park and rubbed elbows with the colourful crowd of what made up the 3rd Annual Sydney Tattoo and Body Art Expo. Being a bit more commercialised this year with a higher number of clothing and jewellery stalls, we were still able to enjoy and experience the many talents of local and international artists.

Bumping into some of the cats and celebrities from the previous year there where a few added sweetners this time round.

There was the beautiful and quirky Ruth Pineda otherwise know as “Ruthless” who appeared on the hit TV series ‘LA Ink’. Even though she was in mid-session with a client she was nice enough to take a few minutes to talk to us and even speak in her filipino dialect. Her client at the time probably wasn’t too happy as she waited to get inked by the sweet Ruthless but hey, she’s only here for a brief period and I’m sure she didn’t want to be all aggressive and complain and end up like that beaten down prostitute who crowned Miss Pineda the title “Ruthless”.

As well as meeting this beautiful body art expert we were able to meet the Assassin behind the ‘Cannon’, Estevan Oriol. For some of us here at SVTH it was probably the highlight of the Expo as it’s not everyday you meet your hero so you’d imagine us as giggling school girls. Placed alongside the Freestyle Rides Magazine stall, Estevan had some of his famous Black and White prints up for sale with the man signing each one purchased.

The gorgeous pin up model Sabina Kelley once again made an appearance as well as a few known local parlours. Some included the Illustrated Man, Kalia Tattoos and Bondi Ink.

It’s always an experience to have so many different talents under the one roof and once again we’re anticipating what’s instore for next year.

The pieces from the ‘Night Action Tattoo Family‘, Taiwan, were just phenomenal. The colour, contrast, and attention to detail were outstanding.
